Admissions

Policies and
Procedures

Cathedral School will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin.  Admission priority is given to Catholic students.  All other denominations are welcome when space is available.  All students enrolled at Cathedral School must participate in Roman Catholic Religion curriculum and attend weekly Monday Mass.  Once a child is accepted at Cathedral re-enrollment is not denied because of affiliation with denominations other than Catholic.

Children entering Kindergarten must have their fifth birthday by August 31, 2008.

Students must submit a copy of their Birth Certificate, Immunization Record, Baptismal Certificate, and First Communion Certificate (if applicable), at time of application.

Students applying in grades 1-8 must submit a copy of their current report card and last year's report card as well as all standardized test results (i.e. NC EOG, Writing, IOWA, etc.), at time of application.

Applications without applicable copies attached are considered incomplete and are removed from registration order until complete.

Based on review of the academic information submitted, students are either accepted, declined, or placed on a waiting list.  A waiting list is kept through January 1, 2009.  After that date, those still waiting must reapply for the 2009-2010 school year.

Students are admitted to Cathedral School in the following order:

  1. Children of current faculty/staff of Cathedral School/Parish.

  2. Siblings of current students.

  3. Parishioners of Sacred Heart Cathedral

  4. Parishioners of other Catholic parishes.

  5. Non-catholic transfers from other catholic schools

  6. Non-Catholics

ALL NEW STUDENTS ARE ADMITTED TO CATHEDRAL ON A SIXTY-DAY PROBATIONARY BASIS.  This allows parents, teachers, and administration to evaluate the student's opportunity for success.
